Framboise Lambic Ale - Unique Belgian Raspberry Beer
Have you heard of Framboise, or of lambic ales? Didn't think so. While extremely difficult to find, our local Trader Joe's had a stock of this rare brew this week. I quickly grabbed a few bottles. The only other places I've found this brew is at the Toronado, a beer-pub in the Lower Haight, San Francisco that carries nearly 80 specialized brews on tap with no macrobrews to fluff up the menu, and at a luxury grocery store in a fancy neighborhood in Tucson, Arizona. I've literally never seen this beer anywhere else. Probably the only reason the San Francisco Trader Joe's carried it is because one of the staff checked out the Toronado!
It's a beer with alcohol content like a wine...but it's not a barley-wine. It's very sweet, and is meant to be drank out of a wine glass. You know how Miller High-Life calls itself the champagne of beers? That's an insult. Framboise is truly the sweet, lightly carbonated champagne of the beer world.
If you see this stuff anywhere near you I highly recommend it!

You've got it exactly right! I had my first bottle tonight, and it is amazing! The taste of rasperries blew me away.
If you really enjoy beer, then you must try this,. I can hardly advocate drinking it one after another, but from time to time, it is certainly extremely enjoyable.
I am currently brewing my own right now. This is
possible due to a oregon company that makes lambic yeast.Wyeast#3288.The reason this costs so much is due to the aging before shipping(sixmonths).I can brew five gallons for 89.00$.

A local restaurant first served me this "nectar from the gods" and I fell in love! It's hard to find and the price when you do find it isn't cheap, but it's well worth it. Let's all pray it becomes more popular, easily available and cheaper!
Back in Portland my favorite is to goto Rheinlanders on Sandy. Have my favorite German dish then finish it off with a slice of Double Chocolate German cake and a glass of Lindemans Framboise ON TAP. Pure heaven.
Another good berry lambic style is Wisconsin Belgian Red from New Glarus http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/ Harder to find than the Lindemans, a little more sweeter, but both still stand well on their own.
I have been able to get this stuff at one of my local Safeway's for the past 6 years. Strange considering I live in 'the cuts' while you couldn't find it in SF. Hmmm.
It is so delicious. I have been able to find it at the local co-op for years. I have never had a better beer; I highly reccomend it to anyone who likes sweet beverages.
Tried some at a local wine bar in my hometown of Melbourne Florida. Quite interesting, but a little sweet for me. The way I've enjoyed it the most it to mix it (however you see fit) in a good Wheat Beer. It wakes up a Samuel Adams boston lager in a nice way too!!
There's a bar here in Corvallis, Oregon that has that exact framboise on tap. Its amazing. People look at it strangely. They need to try it. It tastes nothing like actual beer, though..I'd say its closer to a bitch beer like Smirnoff Ice or something, but without any of the syruppy taste, and a LOT more refreshing. That same company also variations in peach, currant, black cherry and apple. Some wine and beer shops will offer it.
tri mixing 1/2 rasberry lambroise and 1/2 youngs chocolate stout beer its great watch the chemical reaction taste like light chocolate too..
for one this framboise lambic is not a beer with alcohol content like a wine it is only 4% alcohol by volume.. wine is around 10-20%... with some exceptions.. where beer can be anywhere from 2% to 20-some%.. and for another there is no such thing as a "lambic ale" an ale is an ale and a lambic is a lambic a lambic is not an ale and an ale is not a lambic the framboise lambic ale u describe is just a "lambic" not an ale.. ales ferment warm with top fermenting dry yeast...lagers cold with bottom fermenting liquid yeast and lambics with wild yeast.. this beer is a beer and not a "bitch beer" it is the rarest form of beer... it is left in oak barrels in a barn so that the wild yeast can do its thing.. IS a beer NOT an ale NOT a bitch.. and IS delicious... i like the peche better though..these are available at cost plus world markets like everywhere and any good beer dtore..
first off, this is not "a beer with alcohol content like a wine" it is only 4% abv ... secondly, it is a lambic, not a "lambic ale" there is no such thing as as lambic ale, ale and lambic are 2 different things... ales are top fermenting and ferment warm with dry yeast normally... ales range from pale ales to stouts and porters... whereas lagers are bottom fermenting and ferment cold with liquid yeast normally... lagers range from crappy american macro lagers which suck i.e. bud miller coors... to marzenbiers, etc. ... lambics ferment with wild yeast by way of spontaneous fermentation... this particluar brew is left to age in oak barrels in a barn where the wild yeast can do its thing... lambics arent technically ales or lagers.. they are lambics.. only truly prodcued in belgium.. often a blend of 2 different beers.. also this is not a "bitch beer" and is nothing like smirnoff wich isnt beer it is a malt beverage.. this is beer... the rarest form of it.. it deserve the label more than light "beer" thats for sure... i love lindemans.. they are available at cost plus world markets everywhere and any good beer store.. i mean real beer... not budmilloors light crap...this particular one is delicious but i prefer the peche...
Fabulous Beer got it at Off The Vine In St John Indiana. Sweet
While waiting on line Christmas eve to buy some wine at our local large liquor store, I noticed Premium Framboise Ale with its distinctive pink foil cap and wrapper. I couldn't resist picking up a bottle as a stocking stuffer for a neighbor. We both ended up trying it. It was outrageous! I have been telling family and friends about it all Christmas morning! You are right - at $7 a bottle, it is not cheap but it is pure heaven!
Love this stuff. First time was by a process of elimination. I visited the Falconer, a small pub in Redlands, CA. They didn't have the Apple Nectar I ordered, So the waitress suggested I try the peach framboise. Honey Wine was my first drink of choice, but now it's PEACH FRAMBOISE !!!!!
I prefer the Cassis flavour because it's a little more tart and they had a nice sour cherry lambic at a bar I was at a couple weeks ago.
this is literally one of the most delicious liquids I have ever tasted. So hard to find and so expensive though! Floris' version is great too.
You can find this beer at HEB grocery stores its something different compared to regular beers.
I have been drinking this for a long time. My local Top Foods carries it. Great stuff! and its excellent for a nice sipping beer
Great beer and I've been drinking it for years. A nice way to serve it is to offer to guests after a nice long meal. It can replace dessert and refresh a tired palate at the same time. Seems to always bring a smile to peoples faces when served that way.
I tried it for the first time a couple of months ago. I tasted it first and then ended up drinking it mixed with guiness. What a combination. It was excellent. Tasted like a chocolate raspberry truffle. Yummo.
I've absolutely fallen in love with this drink. I've been drinking this lovely beverage for over a year now and I enjoy it just as much as I did when I took my first sip. Highly recommended. After a hard days work, I like to come home to a chilled glass of Framboise. Delicious!
Yes, I love Lindeman's Framboise...I first had it at Yardhouse. The only place I've been able to find it is at Whole Foods in San Diego for $8 for the smaller bottle. I've tried the peche (peach) and black cherry as well. I like the peach but it tastes more like a beer than the framboise does, the black cherry does as well (but at the same time, I'm not a fan of black cherry in the first place). I have yet to try the green apple, but I imagine it would taste like alcoholic sparkling apple cider. However, I definitely recommend the framboise/raspberry or peche/peach. Very refreshing and have recommended it to many of my friends who like it now too. It is definitely nothing like Smirnoffs and I don't like those.
Oh I loooove this. Impossible to find, I've tried to special order from all the liquor stores in town but sadly none of them can get it in. I've literally driven over 4 hours to stock up on it.
I love this stuff. I get it at BevMo in Roseville, CA. Believe most BevMos have it.
This stuff is really good - plus it's great if you're going to a beer bar with someone (usually a lady friend, no offense intended) that doesn't have any idea what to get. I'm in Manhattan and some "beer bars" can be intimidating if you don't know what you're looking for.
For anyone visiting Manhattan, there are just a few places I know that have it: 124 Rabbit Club (unmarked door, so it helps to citysearch it beforehand); Vol De Nuit (http://www.voldenuitbar.com/) has it on tap!; and I think the Belgian Room/Hop Devil in the LES.
Had 2 bottles of this wonderful brew last night! and let me tell you I was impressed! I am not really a beer drinker but let me tell you I will be drinking this one! Found it at BEVMO and Trader Joe's if your in the LA area.
I have been drinking this for a few years. I don't generally like "beer", but I love this lambic. When I moved to Tennessee, it was near impossible to find locally. I discovered that my local Earth Fare food store in Knoxville carries it. I'm delighted!
I found the raspberry and the peach they are both awsome and you won't believe where. I am in Columbus Ohio and we have a Hardware / Grocery Store called Andersons and they have a very large wine selection and we found it there. My girl friends sons girlfriend brought over a bottle for us at a cook out and it was excellent.
Love this. If anyone is in FL, they sell the peche, pomme and framboise at Hop N Johns market in Cocoa Village. I just went to their monthly wine tasting and bought a bottle of it, cause I enjoy it so much. 6 bucks, but it is just so good. (They have tons of beers and wines and a great deli at that market)
